About BENeTec

The Laboratory of Business Economics and New Technologies (BENeTec) was founded in 2004 by Manolis Petrakis, who was then an Associate Professor at the Department of Economics of the University of Crete. Manolis Petrakis served as the Director of the Laboratory for 19 years, until October 2023, when Associate Professor Andreas Panagopoulos took over as Director.

The purpose of BENeTec is to conduct research and provide services in the scientific fields related to Business Economics and New Technologies, which are of interest to the academic community, the policy makers and the business world. BENeTec seeks to provide scientifically sound answers to their questions and challenges.

BENeTec’s main strategy is to collaborate with similar research groups internationally and to transfer know-how to companies and organizations, providing them with the appropriate resources to cope with the challenges of the globalized economy.

  • Business Economics and Applications of Game Theory in Economics
  • Industrial Organization and Policy
  • Analysis of International Money Markets and Capital Markets
  • International Trade (with an emphasis on Crete’s trade)
